PUBLIC NOTICE: NON-INSURED HEALTH BENEFITS (NIHB)
To NIHB clients:
Please be advised that the Weneebayko Area Health Authority Non-Insured Health Benefit office in Moosonee is encountering telephone system difficulties. The existing telephone system does not meet the demand and will be replaced with a new system complete with additional telephone lines to help meet our clients’ needs. We anticipate the new system to be installed and operational within 6 weeks. Your understanding and patience will be greatly appreciated.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE NON-INSURED HEALTH BENEFITS (NIHB) MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
Health Canada and the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) are pleased to provide important information regarding the delivery of medical transportation services to eligible clients living in the Mushkegowuk territory.
Effective April 01, 2013 a new collaborative working relationship between Health Canada, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) and WAHA will be introduced. The new working relationship will focus on quality service to clients requiring medical transportation, while streamlining the process. This approach will help to respond to the strategic priority of developing a sustainable and responsive public health service delivery model to serve the Mushkegowuk territory.
Under the new model Health Canada will resume ultimate management responsibility for the medical transportation program. The new model will not affect the level of benefit coverage available to clients.
This new model is a good example of how, by working collaboratively, Health Canada and WAHA have been able to address the unique health priorities of the Weeneebayko area given its remote vast geography and cultural diversity.
